Automatic Activity Detection

Luna doesn’t recognises activities like different workout sessions automatically, in fact except for steps all the activities you do has to be manually fed in to the app. Automatic Activity detection is basic feature for any health tracking device but surprising Luna doesn’t have it yet.

Hi Vijayakumar Udayakumar and all Lunaverse members!
I want to take this opportunity to clear some of the confusion around automatic workout and activity detection. The Luna Ring currently auto-detects sleep, naps, walking, and running. We don't claim to track all workouts automatically just yet.
We're actively working on expanding this to include treadmill walks, ellipticals, rowing machines, and rope skipping and you should expect to see this in our upcoming launches soon.
Broader automatic activity detection is a big priority on our roadmap - expect updates soon as we build out the next gen Luna Ring and Luna Band.
If you need any specific question answered regarding this, please feel free to reach out to me here or at ayush.gupta@lunazone.com, I'd love to hear from you. Cheers!

I sleep in 2 sessions on weekends as I get up to pray early in the morning and then sleep again, it totally ignores my previous major sleep record and only considers the hours I've slept after the prayers ie a 20 min break. This ring should be smart enough to consider it as a long sleep. Please improve slept detection it is of no use if I have to feed it manually.

Yes and with us having to add in every workout or record it at the start, we should be able to edit prior day workouts. Still can’t do that either.

I used to have the oura ring prior to Luna and yes it would be great if Luna could track activities more proactively. Considering the link to AI - hoping for some improvements on the horizon

Yes, my friend has the oura ring and it is great at detecting this! We went to a wedding together and hers was picking up everything, walking, dancing ect where as my Luna didn’t detect anything 🫠

Related to this, sometimes if you are doing a "relaxed" activity like seating and reading, somehow the ring manages to consider this as "sleep" even though the app asks you if you were taking a nap and you deny it, it still counts as "sleep" which is incorrect and can mess up the sleep data if you read before bed. So, I believe detection for activities should be revised please.

This ties in with activities around the house like housework, raking leaves, snow shoveling, etc.

Every now and then I've gone for a walk and then that night or the next day it said detected activity so there is one it just seems to be very delayed
